IP Technology and Reduced Costs

Business3While VoIP technology and communications have been available around the world for some time, many individuals and business owners still don’t understand what it is and why they should be using it.

Those using VoIP agree with providers of VoIP services that VoIP communications will become the main way all calls are made in the future. Standard phone lines are predicted to become extinct within the next 5-10 years.

Reports by Infonetics Research showed that the growth of the global VoIP industry adds support to those predictions, according to IT Web.

Michelle Barker of a commercial VoIP provider in South Africa said the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) opened the VoIP industry up to competition in 2005, resulting in a massive jump in consumer engagement and lower prices.

Barker added that the development of the National Long Distance (DLD) consortium will boost VoIP consumption exponentially and greatly lower the cost of all products and services.
